Funeral services for Bernard Dale Boxberger age 77 of Tyler will be 2:00pm Monday, October 17, 2016 at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Braaton officiating. Mr. Boxberger was born on May 13, 1939 in Hays, Kansas to J. Samuel and Othelia Koons Boxberger and passed away on October 13, 2016 in Tyler.

Mr. Boxberger served in the Air Force retiring as Senior Master Sergeant after 23 years of service and was a Flight Safety Instructor for Flight Safety International in Wichita, Kansas for 14 years. Also he was an aircraft instructor...

Mr. Boxberger was born on May 13, 1939 in Hays, Kansas to J. Samuel and Othelia Koons Boxberger and passed away on October 13, 2016 in Tyler.

Mr. Boxberger served in the Air Force retiring as Senior Master Sergeant after 23 years of service and was a Flight Safety Instructor for Flight Safety International in Wichita, Kansas for 14 years. Also he was an aircraft instructor for Jim Lovell the Astronaut for 6 weeks. In the late 1980's he was a pilot for Sen. Bob Dole. He flew C130 Transport in and out of Tachikawa Air Force Base from 1963 to 1965, flying in supplies and flying out wounded soldiers.

His fondest memory was on August 4, 1962 when on a 112 degree day in Wichita, Kansas he married the love of his life at 11:00am Mass.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Liz Boxberger of Tyler; daughters, Deborah Anderson and husband Stephen of Roanoke, and Diane Golden of Colorado; 5 grandchildren; sister, Judy Bunker of Valdosta, Georgia and 5 nieces and nephews.

Visitation will follow the service.
